Serbian Philanthropic Gala 2025

Serbian Philanthropic Association celebrates its 5th Gala at Cipriani Wall Street

The Serbian Philanthropic Association (SPA) successfully hosted its 5th Annual Serbian Philanthropic Gala on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the iconic Cipriani Wall Street, bringing together more than 450 guests, donors, and supporters from across the community for a night of purpose, unity, and celebration.

This year’s Gala delivered an unforgettable program dedicated to supporting Makers Labs, an innovative educational initiative developed by the Nordeus Foundation. The 2025 Gala raised over $150,000 to expand Makers Labs throughout Serbia and ensure more students gain access to hands-on STEAME education (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, and entrepreneurship).

Through the generosity of attendees, the SPA will directly support the creation and expansion of Makers Labs across Serbian schools with modern learning spaces designed to inspire creativity, and advance digital literacy, innovation, and problem-solving. These labs create opportunities for students to prepare for future careers and develop their potential.

The evening opened with a vibrant cocktail reception, followed by a program moderated by Nina Seničar, the Gala’s Master of Ceremonies. Guests heard inspiring remarks about the impact of Makers Labs and the importance of investing in educational opportunities for young people.

“The SPA Gala in New York was truly magnificent, and I was deeply moved by the energy and purpose that filled the room. There is no better investment than helping the next generations become the best versions of themselves. Seeing more than 450 people come together to champion teachers and students in Serbia—and to recognize the importance of giving them the space, tools, and programs to develop the skills of tomorrow through Makers Labs—was profoundly inspiring. This collective support sends a powerful message about the future we’re building together. Most importantly, this fundraiser stands as a big boost and recognition for hardworking, passionate teachers who dedicate themselves every day to empowering the next generation”, emphasized Branko Milutinović, Nordeus CEO.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the SPA’s Award for Excellence in Philanthropic Action to Alex Machaskee, honoring his dedication to a range of philanthropic causes, including his many efforts to preserve and celebrate Serbian cultural heritage. Mr. Macheskee delivered his acceptance speech via prerecorded message as he was in the midst of a charitable mission to Egypt.

The entertainment highlight came with a special live performance by Bajaga & Instruktori, whose iconic music electrified the room and united guests in celebration. The evening also featured a live flute and accordion performance by Mina Šuković and Ljubinka Kulišić.

Guests participated in the gala’s most successful auction to date, featuring a range of donated items from supporters of the SPA. The live auction, led by auctioneer Jacqueline Towers-Perkins, delivered enthusiastic bidding and featured exclusive items, including a Nemanja Vidić jersey that he signed live and collectibles such as a signed Novak Djokovic racket from his 101st singles title in Athens.

“The support we witnessed tonight demonstrates that people not only have a desire to be part of a positive, constructive, community but also that they are willing to invest themselves in building that better future,” said Srdjan Vuković, President of the SPA. “The partnership and support we received from so many people certainly inspired our team, and I hope that our attendees left feeling that energy as well.”
